I tested positive

Almost one year ago I shared with you about my Exposure to Covid-19 . Today I come back after being cautious scared almost of catching this virus because I’ve seen and heard the horror stories with a Covid positive test result.

It took me a good ten minutes to fully register the results after I received the email. My sister was the first person I called to share the results. It seemed the universe was playing an awful joke at the time because she also tested positive at work. So two Covid positive test. This is not something I was looking forward to receiving.

The CDC gave some new guidelines regarding quarantine etc. The site where I tested also provided details in the event I needed medical attention.

The only symptom if any I’ve experienced since tested I’d say is a cough but I have allergies so of course it could have been mistaken as allergies, my allergies are chaotic at this time of the year. I’ve been in quarantine for almost 10 days and outside of the on and off cough I haven’t had any other symptoms thankfully.

I’ve been home most days before this result so to think I’ve been “ careful” wearing my mask washing my hands after being out in public. When im home pretty much no mask is worn. I can’t say how I contracted the virus or from whom. I’m vaccinated which I guess is good , no underlying issues that im aware of.

I figure I will wait until the quarantine is over to retest to find out if the virus is out of my system. I’ve read that the virus can remain in one’s system over 3 months I hope that isn’t the case. I will continue to wear my mask and being extra cautious when I’m around people. I would not want to be the cause of transmission to anyone.

Please continue to be careful out there guys so much is happening and you may just never know. Get tested if you are not well even if you may think it is your allergies.

Have a good rest of the day. I will provide an update on my status when I have one. I am in good spirits , drinking my fluids and trying to stay positive.

Until next time…

Bullet Journaling- What’s that?

Hi friend’s,

The last time we spoke I shared how I’ve started a new hobby. Handlettering is going great I can definitely see progress with my writing I’m more cognizant of upstrokes and downstrokes. I’m even trying to add little doodles to my pieces that I share to Instagram designsbysixty5. I’ve noticed that the more I learn and see the amazing pieces being shared by the many profiles , I have to remind myself that I have to take it slowly and practice overtime my muscle memory will kick in and I will ensure that all my letters are uniformed, my strokes are the right width. Frankly,up to this minute I didn’t know how technical handlettering could be or was. I just saw beautiful words/letters mixed with a little art on paper. News flash it’s none of those things. It takes time, I’ve already gotten supplies as per the many recommendations and I’m currently banning myself from making another brush pen or any handlettering material from Amazon.

It’s like I’m back at school again and I want to get all the cool pens and stationery. I’ve even found myself looking at bullet journals. I already have a planner that I love it’s April I mean the year has pretty much started it’s too late to start another journal. It’s something I’d like to try as soon as Ive learned the mechanics of it. My Kit Life planner has prompts and it’s pretty straightforward so it works.

Do you use a bullet journal? What kind of planner do you use? I have over 6 planner in my Amazon Cart I’m not sure which one to choose as yet. The most expensive is $12 I’m not going any higher than that because I’m not sure if I will go full on with this thing. I’m thinking let it wait out the year until I’ve learned as much as I can about Bujo. I will continue to live vicariously through the accounts I follow on IG and watch on Youtube.

Until next time,

Keep safe!

Coping in a Pandemic

Hey friends,

It’s been a minute. Working from home paired with other demands has me very busy. I decided to check the many notifications that I’ve missed since my last post.

The blog is growing and people are engaging with the posts I’ve made and that is good. Thank you really, it’s much appreciated.

Today wasn’t a good day for me, I was so overwhelmed I locked myself in my room, I guess I cried 😭 for maybe a few hours. Now I don’t know what came over me but I felt so much better after. I was thinking unkind thoughts ,between work home the current pandemic the news. It was just too much.

Check on your strong friends we are not okay. I was a part of a meeting this week where a team member shared how people are not coping in this pandemic our realities have changed we’ve lost loved ones, jobs, the uncertainty of not knowing what will happen next is just too much. When I heard this person speak I didn’t know or think that for a minute I was going through the motions. No one checked on me but a notification from this blog post that I wrote last year prompted me to reflect and refocus my bearings.

I just want you to reach out to someone if you need to talk clear your head. Ask for help, too often we allow pride from giving us that break that is so badly needed.

I’m not at a 100% but I’m still alive.

I hope you are okay, alive and well.

Until next post,

Stay safe

Dee xoxo

End of Year Book Tag

It’s two (2) days until the new year, I’m two months into this blogging journey and I’m enjoying it thus far. While I didn’t get to share as many book reviews here are a few things I’ve enjoyed this year.

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

Yes, sadly I didn’t get a chance to finish these books and I’m giving my self until the first quarter of 2021 to finish them:

Anxious People-Fedrik BackMan

Home Before Dark -Riley Sager

Memorial -Bryan Washington

The Wife Upstairs – Rachel Hawkins

This Time Next Year – Sophie Cousens

For Better and Worse -Margot Hunt

Have you already started making reading plans for 2021?

I kind of shocked myself with the number of books I read in 2020. According to my tracker, I’ve read 12 books when the plan was to cover at least 5. That’s pretty awesome for someone who is just starting out. I plan to read at least 20 Books in 2021. Wish me luck🙂.

What’s your favorite genre?

I love Self Help Books, A good Thriller, Detective Mystery are books I’ve found myself gravitated towards.

What were your favorite books if any?

I love everything Melinda Leigh- Those Morgan Dane Books were addictive. I also enjoyed reading Rose Carlyle The Girl in The Mirror and lastly Lisa Jewel -The Family Upstairs.

Do you have any books that you didn’t enjoy?

Yes, Wild Game – Andriene Brodeur was oddly disturbing.

If you could recommend any two book what would they be and why?

The Miracle Morning– Hal Elrod

30 Days Change Your Habit Change Your Life -Marc Reklau

I’d recommend these two books because they changed my life. They allowed me to look past what was blocking me in seeing my fullest potential. These books challenged my thoughts and ideals gave me a different and broader perspective on life. I was able to broaden my horizon gain a better understanding of who I truly am and what I can do. If you’re feeling stuck and want that added push I would recommend the two especially going into the new year. You can get both on your Kindle or purchase on Amazon.

Are you an Influencer?

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts lately asking for recommendations for influencers. While you may be on the lookout for this individual/brand. I want to share with you a few things to consider when looking for your influencer.

Who is an Influencer?

An Influencer is someone who has: the power to affect the purchasing decisions of others because of his or her authority, knowledge, position, or relationship with his or her audience. a following in a distinct niche, with whom he or she actively engages.

Influencer

This definition is the best one I’ve seen. While there is mention of a following, there’s no specific number mentioned. This is to tell you that anyone including you reading this blog, has influenced someone to do something, make a purchase or not.

The main focus of influencing is to consider your “niche” who is your target audience? If you’re a beauty brand and you’re looking for an influencer to push your product. You have to seek out that individual who will not only promote your product but someone more likely to wear your product. Some companies often rush to select the most popular person, through their Instagram and or Tik Tok following; but, does the person with whom you want to be associated with your product have the ability to garner any sales or traction to your business? Will the purchase cause an epiphany among your niche to let them know if they’re not using this particular product then they’re missing out? Let’s face it no one wants to be left out. It is your job to do your research match your product with the best influencer to get that brand recognition or association that you’re looking for.

You may not have the following on Social Media but you have what it takes to be the influencer that a company is looking for.

Here are a few tips to consider when you’re approaching companies for Influencer Marketing:

1. A media kit is very important – this kit should have your portfolio of things you’ve done and are able to do for this particular company.

2. Do your Research: Research is very important. The company you’re pitching wants to know that you’re able to talk to their prospective customers on their behalf. It’s important to know about the product as well as the business you will be working with.

3. Brand Association/Identity: We’ve seen the ads heard the commercials”Be Careful what you post online”. Some might say what about freedom of speech. Yes, it is important to have a voice and be able to share how you feel. However, you’re going to represent the company that you’re pitching for. You can’t be salty Jane online about abortions and wanting to represent a diaper brand. You are a brand and your brand should be aligned with the product or service you want to sell.

4.Create A Plan: Once you’ve done your research you are well on your way to Influence. Brands need the reassurance that they’re getting every bang for their buck. Create the Social Media strategy to get them to the point they’re willing to go.

5. Enhance your knowledge of Social Media Marketing: They’re tips online as well as there is always Google, Youtube, free courses. What is CTR and SEO? for example, it’s important to learn the different jargons associated with this new way of marketing.

Good luck 😊

Until Next Post…
