Save your Breath- Melinda Leigh(Morgan Dane Series Book 6) #Book-Review

Synopsis:

When true-crime writer Olivia Cruz disappears with no signs of foul play, her new boyfriend, Lincoln Sharp, suspects the worst. He knows she didn’t leave willingly and turns to attorney Morgan Dane and PI Lance Kruger to find her before it’s too late.

As they dig through Olivia’s life, they are shocked to discover a connection between her current book research on two cold murder cases and the suicide of one of Morgan’s prospective clients.

As Morgan and Lance investigate, the number of suspects grows, but time is running out to find Olivia alive. When danger comes knocking at their door, Morgan and Lance realize that they may be the killer’s next targets.

My Thoughts:

Bittersweet moment as I write my final thoughts on this novel as well as the series. So much emotions going on right now. Excellent writing by Melinda Leigh. She had me staying up late at night. I’m not mad at all.

Book 6 was centered around the kidnapping of Olivia Cruz, Sharps’s girlfriend. The kidnapping was all kind of weird that left Sharp desperate to find her. He of course got help from Morgan, Lance, Lance mom, and Stella (Morgans sister) to solve this one. Every clue they’d got turned up to be a dead end. Sharp was miserable he and Olivia hadn’t really established anything between them but he knew he was miserable without her and he just had to find her. I was sad for him.

So many leads, something had to give them a clue. Lance and Morgan saved the day they did not only solve the kidnapping but also other mysteries.

The ending was very touching Sharp did something that made Morgan tear up and to tell you the truth I was moved. He did something that would make your heart melt. I’m also happy that Lance and Morgan will be together forever.

Overall well written series, I thoroughly enjoyed the novels. Melinda Leigh has a new fan. I will be looking out for her books. If you see them please tag me.

What’s next? I’m going to finish reading my book of the month mail haul….

Saturdays with Dee

I am an early riser on weekends. A fresh pot of coffee always put me in the mood to kick start my day.

Breakfast is usually Eggs 🍳, bacon 🥓 and toast 🍞.

Chores:

✔ Laundry

✔Cleaning my apartment

✔Grocery Shopping

✔ Bill Payments

✔ Shopping

The streets are always chaotic on a weekend, the malls are super busy and it’s funny I’m seeing Christmas decorations everywhere. I would love to get my gifts early this year.

Chores may vary dependent on the weather. I try my best to get as much done so that I can just relax for the rest of the day.

My favorite spot in the house is in my bedroom in my little chair by the window with my books in arms reach. This is where I spend most of the time until late at night. My books are keeping me sane these days and I’m happy I’ve started reading.

Secrets Never Die-Melinda Leigh (Morgan Dane Series Book#5) #BookReview

Synopsis:

When a retired sheriff’s deputy is shot to death in his home, his troubled teenage stepson, Evan, becomes the prime suspect. Even more incriminating, the boy disappeared from the scene of the crime.

Desperate to find her son, Evan’s mother begs PI Lance Kruger for help. She knows her son is innocent. Kruger and defense attorney Morgan Dane want to believe that too, but the evidence against the boy is damning. Just as the trail goes cold, another deputy vanishes. His shocking connection to Evan’s stepfather throws the investigation into chaos as Lance and Morgan fear the worst…that Evan is the killer’s new target.

With so many secrets to unravel, will Lance and Morgan find him before it’s too late?

My Thoughts:

I felt that the plot in this book took forever to come to fold. The suspense was still there, however. Morgan Dane and Lance got a very difficult case with lots of twists and turns, several secrets were unfolded, she continues to the same badass, defense attorney so much so to the detriment of colleagues she has to work with. The DA and Sheriff are not always pleased with how she continues to show up to their department’s shortcomings.

The characters are growing on me and I like the relationships that have developed over the series: Morgan and Lance, Sharp, and Olivia. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

My rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐

When it Rains…

It’s raining where I am. The sounds of the raindrops is very soothing to the ear. Its as if each droplet is in a rush to see who’s going to catch the ground first. I laugh because I’ve never thought of that before.

I love the rain, especially now that I’m snuggled up in my room with this book 📖. We’ve already had dinner; shrimp pasta and garlic bread, yummy!.

I can hear the sounds of frogs and crickets moving about. They’ve been displayed by the rain. Trying to find somewhere warm and safe.

When it rains I reflect more. I think about the present, the future and all the amazing things that I want to achieve. Its important to never take anything for granted. You are enough, you are important and you can be the change you want in this world.

Talking about the change I’m not certain if you’re aware of what’s happening in Nigeria 🇳🇬 What is SARS?. I’m saddened by all the persons who are being killed for standing up for what they believe in. Let’s pause and say a prayer hoping that things will change soon. #PrayforNigeria #EndSARs

Give thanks that you’re in a better space and never take anything for granted.

As always, I hope you’re Ok and safe😊.

I’m miserable, that’s the truth….

You’re always reading, 😑 annoyed my husband said to me. He’s been nagging me to spend more time with doing anything else other than being tucked away in our bedroom reading books.

It’s been several months since the pandemic. We would be much busier trying to maneuver our respective jobs , raising a toddler and making things work.

It’s not easy, things are not the same or as they used to be. Our lives have been uprooted and so we have to get used to the new norm. We have conflicting schedules, online schooling taking care of a sick parent. Listen, I’m always cooking, juggling being a wife and caregiver but this sh*t is just too much. I thought I was going to lose it. Things got tighter, financially and while we’re still okay I had to cancel most of my subscription boxes, yes I had to make sacrifices we both had.

So, on October 5 I created this blog. I didn’t know what I was doing, still don’t ,but like all things before I’ll figure it out. I started reading books. One good book led to another, and another you get the picture. Book Reviews came and like this post in between ramblings. I haven’t set up a schedule just yet but I’m working off my mood for now.

How has Covid-19 affected your life?

Reading books and posting on my blog has been helping me not to go completely insane.

That’s all for now, I’m currently reading #WIldGame by Andriene Brodeur-

Are you Ok?

Today was a rather hectic day. I had to bail on an invitation because I had too much handling and just didn’t see how I could maneuver all without neglecting what really mattered.

I’m now sitting in the chair in my bedroom snuggled up with my book and thinking about how as adults we have to make tough decisions so that our lives are not uprooted in the long run. We are given tasks, responsibilities and what ever we decide has a dominoe effect on something else. In all the hustle and bustle remember that you have to think about you. Are you okay? Those are the words my toddler asked me…. Sometimes I wonder what old soul has occupied his body he’s very thoughtful.

It’s no good to do everything else and not be Ok.

Create a balance…. I’m still trying to create it.
