Speak Up

Silence isn’t always golden. This is a phrase I shared in 2011 on my Facebook page.

Silence- complete absence of sound (noun) google definition.

I was never one who always spoke up for myself for failure to get on someone’s bad side. All this changed after I’ve realized Silence isn’t always golden. Speaking up allows the other person to know how you’re feeling, whether you’re in agreement or not. It’s important to share your feelings without fear of the outcome.

I’ve been reading books, listening to podcasts talking to people who are very unapologetic about who they are and what they bring to the table. If you’re at a job and you have all the ideas that would make a process work and you don’t say anything, that is to your detriment. How many times have you missed an opportunity to share ideas and even get ahead in life? What has your silence done for you?

After reading the book The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F$@k – Mark Manson it has further cemented me to speak up or focus more directly on what makes me happy. Putting yourself first allows you to strive, to grow and achieve things that you’ve always wanted to achieve.

Whatever you do or say always focus on the bottom line YOU. Ensure that all your encounters leaves you satisfied with your response to any situation. It doesn’t happen over night it takes practice and drive. Never miss another opportunity to shine because you remained silent.

Silence isn’t always golden.

I Drank A Gallon Water for 1 month….

Hey Friends 👋,

Being home everyday, cooking, eating, taking care of family and doing everything except taking care of my body. Things got out of hand, I didn’t realize the person I was seeing in the mirror. It was awful 😢😞😫, I felt tired all the time and eating around the clock didn’t help either. I packed on lbs like no tomorrow. I decided that I needed to take control not gain any more lbs and just focus on losing all the 50 lbs gained in the year.

50? When did I gain 60lbs? 😔 I can’t believe I allowed myself to get away like that. For reference my weight before Covid was 198lbs still 23 lbs more that my ideal weight of 175lbs. I am 30-35 years old 5ft 8 1/4″.

The most important thing I would ask anyone who has found themselves in my situation is to find your why. Finding your why is what will keep you focused and driven to accomplish that goal you want. My why is that I want to love the person that I see in the mirror at all times. I want to be able to wear my size 12 jeans now I’m rocking size 16/18. That’s not me. The only thing that I never seemed to lose was my curvy figure, that I am extremely grateful for.

At the end of June this year I decided that I had to figure out a way to lose the weight without much exercise and pressure that would send me back to physio. I got a jump rope and Gallon bottle from Amazon.

Day 1:

I only managed to do 3 complete jumps. Yes I was so heavy I couldn’t lift my body to complete at least 10 jumps. When I was younger I loved jumping, I had my jump rope everywhere I went. I parked the rope and decided to just focus on something else, let’s lose some of this weight first. I started drinking a Gallon of water daily.

The first week was hectic 😫. I was running to the bathroom every 20 mins, reminded me of when I was pregnant. Thankfully I am home most of the days so it didn’t bother me much. At the end of week one I already started seeing and feeling results. My skin was glowing and I didn’t feel as tired before.

Fast forward to today, I can testify to the following benefits of drinking a Gallon water daily:

* Skin texture will be different.

* Bloating completely gone.

* Curved Cravings

* Shorter periods ,little to no pms: I have a pretty normal cycle, however before I see my monthly flow I’d experience excruciating pain lower belly and back, I would get pimples on a specific spot on my face. My mood swings would be all over the place. This month I thought I wasn’t going to have a period no back pain no cramps, the flow was not heavy. It only lasted 3 days. My cycle is usually 5 days and is always on time.

I did some measurements before I started my journey:

Waist- 44″

Breast – 42″

Thigh – 51″

August 1,2021:

Waist – 39″

Breast -40″

Thigh- 49″

This is just from drinking a Gallon water daily. My diet haven’t changed much just that I am eating less and no longer eating late.

I am going to challenge myself to start jump roping and using my spin bike. Hopefully the results will be much better.

What has been your experience with exercise, losing Covid weight?

Share with me in the comments .

3 Self-Help Tips you need in 2021

It’s the 4th day of 2021. We’ve talked about Vision Boarding and how they’ve helped me to visualize my life over the years. Today I want to share three (3) self-help tips that you will need to visualize your dreams in 2021.

Here are a few tips to help you to create and attract the life you want:

1.Make yourself a priority:Stay in bed all day, painting your nails, doing make up, watching Youtube videos, or simple doing nothing at all. Focus on you and your mental being. Taking care of yourself is paramount. Once you’re energized and motivated you will be motivated to achieve all your goals.

2.Decluttering: Your mental health is very important. If it doesn’t bring you joy let it go. Cutting ties with everything that consistently hurts you as well as being prepared to cut off that part of you that allows that kind of hurt. You are well on your way to realizing your dreams. A freeing spirit allows you to excel and believe that you can achieve anything.

3.Create Boundaries: In 2021 we want everyone to know that although we love them we can do so from a distance. Creating boundaries allows you to breathe. It’s ok to say no, to that request. In 2021 let’s say no without giving unnecessary explanations as to why we’re saying no. Explanations open room for the other party to play on your emotions which will make you end up saying yes to something you truly didn’t want to in the first place.

I hope these tips will provide clarity, and you will achieve everything you’ve set out to for 2021 and beyond.

Are you an Influencer?

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts lately asking for recommendations for influencers. While you may be on the lookout for this individual/brand. I want to share with you a few things to consider when looking for your influencer.

Who is an Influencer?

An Influencer is someone who has: the power to affect the purchasing decisions of others because of his or her authority, knowledge, position, or relationship with his or her audience. a following in a distinct niche, with whom he or she actively engages.

Influencer

This definition is the best one I’ve seen. While there is mention of a following, there’s no specific number mentioned. This is to tell you that anyone including you reading this blog, has influenced someone to do something, make a purchase or not.

The main focus of influencing is to consider your “niche” who is your target audience? If you’re a beauty brand and you’re looking for an influencer to push your product. You have to seek out that individual who will not only promote your product but someone more likely to wear your product. Some companies often rush to select the most popular person, through their Instagram and or Tik Tok following; but, does the person with whom you want to be associated with your product have the ability to garner any sales or traction to your business? Will the purchase cause an epiphany among your niche to let them know if they’re not using this particular product then they’re missing out? Let’s face it no one wants to be left out. It is your job to do your research match your product with the best influencer to get that brand recognition or association that you’re looking for.

You may not have the following on Social Media but you have what it takes to be the influencer that a company is looking for.

Here are a few tips to consider when you’re approaching companies for Influencer Marketing:

1. A media kit is very important – this kit should have your portfolio of things you’ve done and are able to do for this particular company.

2. Do your Research: Research is very important. The company you’re pitching wants to know that you’re able to talk to their prospective customers on their behalf. It’s important to know about the product as well as the business you will be working with.

3. Brand Association/Identity: We’ve seen the ads heard the commercials”Be Careful what you post online”. Some might say what about freedom of speech. Yes, it is important to have a voice and be able to share how you feel. However, you’re going to represent the company that you’re pitching for. You can’t be salty Jane online about abortions and wanting to represent a diaper brand. You are a brand and your brand should be aligned with the product or service you want to sell.

4.Create A Plan: Once you’ve done your research you are well on your way to Influence. Brands need the reassurance that they’re getting every bang for their buck. Create the Social Media strategy to get them to the point they’re willing to go.

5. Enhance your knowledge of Social Media Marketing: They’re tips online as well as there is always Google, Youtube, free courses. What is CTR and SEO? for example, it’s important to learn the different jargons associated with this new way of marketing.

Good luck 😊

Budgeting – 10 Tips to help you in 2021 (Blogmas Day 17)

I’m no finance guru and I won’t say I know everything but I will share with you how I managed to repay most of my debt which allowed me to move into my new apartment and hopefully soon I can say my new home. It’s easy to incur certain costs and even harder to clear up if you’re not as disciplined and intentional . Christmas is next week and I hope that you had a chance to do your Christmas shopping and were able to cop some good deals. Some people had salary cuts and some even lost their jobs. Money is tight and I want us to make the most of what we have. Covid-19 is still around and may be around for awhile so I want you to be prepared going into the new year. I want us all to review our bad money habits and make the best of 2021. I have some personal goals that I want to achieve and so far these tips have worked and I hope they will work for you too.

Let’s put a plan in place:

  1. Plan Ahead : I have a pretty good idea of what my income is so it’s easier for me to plan ahead. For the person who may not know exactly what th their income is I would suggest you work with what you have currently. Planning ahead allows you to make better decisions.
  2. Budget for the everything : It’s better to account for every area than to be met on with surprises and trust me you won’t like certain surprises especially when it comes to money. Budgeting for everything means you are in control of your money. There are certain things that are fixed and should always be in your budget Mortgage/Rent/Lease, Utilities, Transportation, Groceries, Medical, Savings you get the gist. For things you may not be aware of you can have a category called Miscellaneous.
  3. Track your Expenses: Every single dollar counts. Knowing where your money is going helps you to make better decisions. It allows you to put your money where it is supposed to go. If you realize that you’re spending too much money on coffee for example; purchase a bottle of coffee and make your own. Making your own coffee will save you a lot . It’s way cheaper to invest in a coffee maker and get a large bottle of coffee than to hit the coffee shop ten times per day. Think about.
  4. Do One Less: Earlier I mentioned coffee and they’re other things that we can do one less of or none at all. I personally had to cut down on the number of subscriptions that I was apart of monthly. Some subscriptions allows you to pause, go on every other month. Whichever you are apart of it is best to cancel or pause. This will allow flexibility with your money.
  5. Set Realistic Goals : If you realize that you’re spending way more on groceries than what you actually can afford then you need to revisit your grocery budget. I would also recommend that you buy in bulk and only buy what is needed. Couponing is good, it saves you a lot, I have a friend who is awesome with couponing. She knows where all the sales are and the selected days to visit the various outlets. Doing that allows her flexibility with her money which allows her to do things she likes to do.
  6. A budget is not fixed – Make Adjustments: Everything on your budget is not always fixed like the rent/mortgage. Revisit the budget as many times as you want.
  7. Budget for Savings: Pay yourself first. There are many formulas out there 50/30/20 rule (applied to your net salary): 50% going to needs 30% wants and 20% savings. This particular formula I am going to try for 2021. As it suggests 50% of your salary should be going towards your needs – needs are things that are necessary for your survival (car payments , rent , mortgage, groceries etc.) 30 % wants – things you spend on that are non essential – subscriptions, date nights, gadgets. 20 % – should be allocated for savings and investments.
  8. Budget for Goals – Your goals can be long term or short term. If your plan is to own a home, buy your dream car, take that vacation ; whatever it is this should be apart of your budget. Financial institutions offers clients different ways to reach their goals. It is important to set aside some money monthly, weekly if you can to meet this particular goal. It is advisable to set standing orders for your salary to be transferred into this account. This allows you comfort in knowing that the money is already allocated for and you are not tempted to use it.
  9. Reward Yourself : My Grandma has a saying “encouragement sweetens labor” . It’s okay to treat yourself . One coffee at the end of the week is ok, just don’t go overboard.
  10. Set Reminders : Reminders helps you to track your progress and figure out if things are going according to plan. The note app on your phone is a good place to set your budget there are also budgeting apps that can assist you along the way. I personally use my notes app as well as I have little stickers around my apartment to help me along the way. I also utilize my calendar app; setting due dates for bills especially helps to prevent late payments which attracts additional fees. Whatever works for you please utilize it, this keeps you grounded ultimately you will realize how much you are saving.
Plan Ahead

I really hope that these tips will help you to manage your money better in 2021 and beyond.
